Our Off-Season Team

off season banner

Ever wonder what Chris & Kevin are up to in the off-season? While we might not be paddling, teaching, or renting on Back Creek in the colder months, we aren’t in hibernation either! Still very involved with Capital SUP in the off-season, the paddlebros spend most of their time tapping into some of their other talents. This year, they also brought on another team member, to help them keep things moving in the off-season!

OUR TEAM

Kevin Haigis

Are you looking for a Life Insurance policy? Are you or a family member confused about MEDICARE? Paying too much for coverage? Send Kevin an email [email protected]

When not working insurance Kevin enjoys traveling – hopeful to head out west to Utah for some snowboarding in March and getting down to Costa Rica and Puerto Rico for a surf trip before the season begins. (If COVID-19 allows out of country travels!)

Chris Norman

Chris

Capital SUP’s COO and Head Coach Chris spends his winters at St. Mary’s Elementary in Annapolis. He is the Physical Education teacher for the 4th-8th grades. Being a school teacher works well with the shop’s season and is a dream job for Chris whose background is Exercise Science and Strength and Conditioning. This year has had its challenges with COVID, but it is rewarding to work with the students in school and the ones at home.

When not at school Chris is at home with his wife Sarah, 3 month old baby girl Emerson, and chocolate lab Maverick. He is looking forward to watching Emerson continue to grow and some winter weather and skiing.

Leah Jaicks

Leah

This off-season, Leah will be working full-time, managing Capital SUP’s social channels/media platforms, communicating with our lovely guests, planning and improving programs for next year, and assisting Kevin and Chris in administrative tasks! She’s been with Capital SUP since 2018, and started paddling as a hobby when she was in high school. Leah worked as our Co-Grom Camp Director and helped expand and grow the program in 2020. In 2020 Capital SUP developed a paid internship with Leah and after an exceptional summer at the closure of the season was given a promotion and became Capital SUP’s FIRST full time employee and the title of Brand Manager.

Leah was born and raised in Annapolis, just minutes from where Capital SUP is now located. She is passionate about showing people the wonders of Annapolis on the water, and graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California with a degree in Recreation, Parks, & Tourism Administration. When she isn’t working, she also enjoys traveling, connecting with the outdoors, photography, brewing her own kombucha, and being a creator!
